Tips and Tricks - AllFusion™ Modeling Suite

In AllFusion™ ERwin® Data Modeler, how do you unlink a model from its source model?

AllFusion ERwin Data Modeler has the ability to split a logical/physical model into separate logical and physical models. At that point, the logical model becomes the Model Source for the physical model. But, if necessary, the models can be unlinked and a different model may be designated as the source model.

To unlink related models, all you need to do is to open the target model (the physical model). Go to the Model menu and choose Model Sources which opens the Model Sources Properties dialog.

In the drop-down list, select the Model Source you want to remove and click on the Delete button. From there on, the two models are no longer related in any way.

Additionally, you can use the Save As New Model on the File menu which will totally disassociate even that link. The results are two separate logical and physical models.
